It is very exciting times for GymbaROO and KindyROO and also for parents of GymbaROO-KindyROO babies and kids! More and more evidence is being documented confirming the long-term benefits of our programs. GymbaROO-KindyROO kids are excelling academically, emotionally and on the sporting field. School teachers are describing those who have been through our programs as having higher levels of concentration, better behaviour and being generally more socially mature and physically capable than their peers.
Six out of seven soccer players from the Rising Star Program, who went on to play English premier league, were GymbaROO-KindyROO graduates. Their FIFA soccer coach reports that he can tell when a player runs out onto the field, whether they attended GymbaROO-KindyROO as a child. With all this in mind, we decided it was a good time to start bringing you the stories of some of our GymbaROO-KindyROO babies who spent the first three or more years of their lives involved with our programs and take a look at where they are now.
Amelia
Current age: 9 years old.
Started attending GymbaROO at 5 months.
Number of years at GymbaROO: 4.5 years.
From a young age Amelia loved words, books and especially Treasure Bag time at Sunshine Coast GymbaROO. She would set up her own GymbaROO at home with her toys and play teacher. Her parents noticed her extensive vocabulary at around 18 months of age where she was singing full nursery rhymes and counting. They found GymbaROO perfect for Amelia to extend, nurture and develop her natural ability in a safe and caring environment. Amelia’s parents also loved the parent educational side to the program, where they could take home weekly information and ‘hands on’ ideas on how to further develop her ability. Along came her little brother Vincent and they all continued to attend weekly classes until school age.
Today Amelia thrives academically winning many awards, enjoys dance, drama and sport and most recently competed in the Channel 10 series of The Great Australian Spelling Bee reaching the top seven spellers in the Grand Final out of 52 entrants and 1000’s of applicants.
“I loved GymbaROO and the concept of the program so much that I went on to study and train as an assistant teacher and furthermore a franchise owner five years later!” Rachel – mum.
Lucas
Current Age: 10 years old.
Started attending GymbaROO at birth.
Number of Years at GymbaROO: 4 years.
As Lucas’s mother was already familiar with the GymbaROO program, she began ‘GymbaROOing’ Lucas from birth. He started attending GymbaROO at Warriewood when he was six weeks old, up until the time they left Sydney for overseas.
Lucas is a very well rounded, happy ten year old who achieves well at school academically and excels on the sporting field. In athletics, since being old enough to compete, Lucas has represented his school, region, club and State in both cross country and athletics, winning many of his numerous track and field events at each level. He was the North Shore PSSA Junior Boys Athletics Champion in 2014 and was awarded Manly-Warringah Little Athletics Junior Athlete of the Year in both 2014 and 2015. He is now off to the 2015 Nationals.
Lucas has excelled in the pool as well, making the State Diving Team this year and representing NSW at the Pacific School Games. He won Junior Age Swimming Champion at his school. Lucas also plays AFL and rugby union. This year he was a member of the winning Division One, Under 11’s AFL Willoughby Wildcats Team and was also selected to play at State level for Sydney North in the Under 12’s Rugby Union Team, one of the youngest players to ever make this team.
“GymbaROO helped me to establish and maintain a routine with Lucas from a very young age, that has not only helped him to reach his potential but it also tired him out so that he always slept, ate and played like a champion!” Rebecca – mum.
